Setting the scene for modern Italian cuisine
At the mouth of the Wieprza River, the town of Darłowo is known for its long sandy beaches, wind-shaped dunes, and the slow rhythm that sets it apart. Often referred to as the Royal City, it carries a layered history linked to King Erik – the last Viking of the Baltic Sea. Sea Collection by Marina Royale sits within this landscape, a planned development that fits naturally into Darłowo’s shoreline. At the centre of the complex is Capri Restaurant, where the day begins with a buffet breakfast in a trattoria-style atmosphere, followed all-day modern Italian dishes, before the atmosphere shifts into the Monte Solaro Bar after sunset. Event and conference rooms extend the offer further, allowing Capri Restaurant to host intimate gatherings as well as functions for up to 120 guests.
With apartments directly above and in neighbouring buildings, the restaurant needed a design that could hold energy at ground level without disturbing the stillness that defines the hospitality parts of Marina Royale, and acoustic ceiling solutions were integrated into the project from the beginning. Tremend, the multidisciplinary studio behind the design, led the process with their combined architectural and engineering background, ensuring that Capri Restaurant could feel expressive yet remain controlled even during peak service.
Shapes atmosphere with deep Charcoal ceilings
Every function of Capri Restaurant sits on the ground floor beneath apartments, and the restaurant itself shifts character through the day. This placed a clear acoustic responsibility, especially within the role of the restaurant ceiling design. “Our main goal was to create a space that inspires and fully meets both functional and acoustic needs. We also cared deeply about the surroundings – Capri had to meet the highest standards," says Anna Federowicz, Vice President of Tremend.
Rockfon Mono Acoustic in the Charcoal shade was introduced as the seamless ceiling surface in the feature areas, introducing steady reverberation control and bringing a refined texture that suits the darker zones.
Across the dining rooms and event spaces, Rockfon Color-all acoustic ceiling tiles in the Charcoal shade in the 600 × 600 mm format provide modularity, Class A sound absorption, and quick access to the plenum. This supports the operational needs of a venue that moves from breakfast to à la carte dining to events. Movable walls and lightweight furniture further assist the flexibility, while the ceiling grid remains plenum accessible.
“We sought products that deliver top level acoustic and visual quality while aligning with sustainability principles – solutions that helped us create a comfortable, beautiful and environmentally friendly space," says Magdalena Federowicz Boule, President of Tremend.
The deep Charcoal tone of the two acoustic solutions anchors the interior and contributes to the restaurant’s black ceiling design, settling the lighting and drawing attention to the fluted bar fronts, warm amber glass, and the mirrored island above the Monte Solaro Bar. The ceilings absorb the surrounding buzz, allowing Capri Restaurant to feel composed with acoustic comfort that supports both staff well-being and the dining experience.
