A Captivating Transformation

The Old Palace, once a moated castle, has undergone a captivating transformation, emerging as the prestigious Württemberg State Museum in the heart of Stuttgart. As the oldest building in the city, the Old Palace stands as a testament to the region's rich cultural heritage, attracting visitors from far and wide. The museum's redesign has breathed new life into the space, offering an immersive experience that seamlessly blends history, elegance, and acoustic brilliance.

At the heart of this transformation lies the grand foyer, known as the Dürnitzhalle. This elegant space serves as the cultural lobby, captivating guests from the moment they step through its doors. With its glamorous and inviting atmosphere, the Dürnitzhalle sets the stage for a captivating journey through the museum's exhibits.

Aesthetic Brilliance and Acoustic Harmony

One of the standout features of the Dürnitzhalle is its impressive acoustic ceiling, spanning 750 square meters. Designed with meticulous attention to detail, the monolithic acoustic ceiling crafted by Rockfon is a true masterpiece. Its bright white surface not only creates a visually striking element but also allows for wide light diffusion, bathing the space in a warm and inviting glow. This innovative ceiling system achieves exceptional acoustics, providing visitors with an immersive and acoustically comfortable environment.

The meticulous execution of the acoustic ceiling installation, led by Dipl.-Ing. Pia Elser, ensures the highest standards of quality and precision. Elser's unwavering commitment to excellence guarantees that every aspect of the acoustic ceiling contributes to the overall aesthetic brilliance of the Dürnitzhalle. The flawless execution of this feature allows visitors to fully appreciate the beauty of the illuminated glass art lights, which hold a prominent place in the museum's collection.

Embracing History and Creating an Inviting Space

In addition to its visual and acoustic appeal, the Dürnitzhalle embraces its historical roots, mirroring the social center of the Old Castle from the Middle Ages. This connection to the past creates a sense of continuity and community within the museum's foyer. Visitors are invited to relax, indulge in the café, and engage in lectures, fostering an environment that is welcoming and inclusive.

The deliberate choice to showcase illuminated glass objects within the foyer is a testament to the museum's commitment to preserving and celebrating history. The glass art lights, carefully selected from the museum's extensive collection spanning four millennia, not only serve as captivating focal points but also provide a captivating journey through the evolution of glass art.
